Vincent Family® Cranberries are grown in the beautiful Bandon region of the southern Oregon coast. Bandon is known as “The Cranberry Capital of Oregon” and has been growing cranberries since the 1890s. The mild climate and long growing season of this area ensures a slow-ripened cranberry renowned for superior quality, taste and nutrition. These cranberries are also cherished for their dark crimson color.
Bandon’s coastal climate combined with its sandy soil offer uniquely perfect growing conditions for cranberries. These conditions have helped Bandon’s cranberries earn worldwide renown. Native to North America, cranberry plants are actually vines, and are grown in beds known as bogs. Despite common misconceptions, cranberry bogs are not flooded year round. The region’s wet weather keeps the bogs irrigated throughout the rainy months and provides enough water for harvest time when the bogs are flooded.
Vincent Family® ‘Cranberry Roots’ go back to 1957 when Elmer Robison, cultivated his first Cranberry bog on the beautiful south Oregon coast. Robison along with his wife Velna raised four children on his cranberry farm. Three of those children carried on the family tradition with their own sustainable and responsible cranberry farming operations.
In 1965, Kay Robison married Bill Vincent and set forth to build a family that became the heart and soul of Vincent Family® Cranberries – a half mile from the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. The life of a small cranberry farming family is very special and the legacy of the Vincent Family® Cranberry history is built off of the ‘blood, sweat & tears’ of generations of LOVE and PRIDE.
